United Way-Thomas Jefferson Area
"Investing in the Future of our Community"
|
 |
Almost 60 years ago, the United Way-Thomas Jefferson Area was founded by the Chamber of Commerce to meet the charitable needs of the community. Today, we are still enhancing the quality of life and meeting the charitable needs of our community...just explore the many activities described here on our website! |
To build on our strengths and prepare for the future, the United Way has undertaken a campaign to establish an endowment fund critical to our continued excellence and service to the community. |
 |
The Endowment Fund Goal
|
The goal of our Board of Directors, in establishing the endowment fund, is to ensure an independent, perpetual base of financial stability for the United Way-Thomas Jefferson Area. This permanent endowment fund is distinct from the United Way's annual fundraising effort since it is held as a permanent asset of the United Way, and will one day support 100% of the United Way's operations, which will include efforts to:
-
support volunteers in the raising of contributions;
-
support the organization's ability to seek and secure direct service grants from local, state, and federal organizations to serve local residents;
-
enhance and extend the work of local human service providers;
-
support all resources and activities of the organization;
-
and provide a facility in which to house the United Way and insure a gathering place for community members;
|
while at the same time allowing us to achieve our long envisioned goal of granting 100% of annual campaign contributions to the programs of local, community agencies - thereby supporting the critical needs of local residents in perpetuity.
The United Way's home is held in the Endowment Fund through a very generout gift of the Thomas E. Worrell Family Fund. |
