FAMIS Health Insurance Untitled Document
Give to United Way Volunteer Resources through the United Way

child and doctorDid you know there are more than 130,000 children in Virginia who are uninsured and eligible for FAMIS programs yet are not enrolled?

Uninsured children:

  • are more likely to miss school,
  • less likely to receive consistent medical care and treatment for childhood conditions,
  • and too often go to the ER for necessary medical care.

FAMIS is Virginia’s health insurance program for children which provides access to quality health services. FAMIS MOMS is a similar program that provides complete health care coverage for pregnant women. United Way can assist through the entire process from starting the paperwork to after children are insured. Our outreach worker will advocate, educate and assist families with questions or concerns about the application process, coverage and their responsibilities.
