Fall Membership Event

On September 15, 2009 Farmington Country Club was filled with wide smiles as Ellen Tobey and Dr. William Vigilones accepted WUP’s Annual Human Services Grant Award of  $33,000.  The money will go to fund the Community Children’s Dental Center, a pediatric dental practice dedicated to caring for children ages 3 to 21.

Adding to the excitement of the day was guest speaker Kelly Corrigan, New York Times Best Selling Author of The Middle Place.  She shared her journey of being a cancer survivor, a parent, caring for parents, and remaining a child to her parents.  Corrigan also charmed the group with back and forth repartee with father ‘Greenie’ Corrigan, another cancer survivor and guest at the luncheon.

The event marked the beginning of WUP’s 2010 Membership Drive.  One of this year’s goals is to have every member of WUP become part of the Collective Fund; that being any amount of money given above the operating cost $75 General Membership fee.
