In 2009, more than 800 local taxpayers claimed nearly $1 million in federal tax refunds and saved more than $160,000 in filing fees by receiving free tax preparation from the Thomas Jefferson Area Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition.
Did your eligible employees claim these benefits?
This tax season, free income tax preparation is available to low- and moderate-income working families. We are working to help promote use of the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to put money back into our local economy. Anyone with a household income of less than $49,000 in 2009 can receive free tax preparation at any of our sites.
Educate your employees about the Earned Income Tax Credit. We can help. Here are some ideas:
- Share these flyers with your employees. Download the flyer.
- Include an insert in W2 or paycheck distribution. Download the insert.
- Explain the Earned Income Tax Credit to your employees. Contact us for resources that can help (see below).
- Send an email or put a posting on your website
